New Route

I decided that I am going to change the subject of this blog. It's going to be about the best, cheapest food in NYC and Brooklyn....and possibly beyond. I'm going to keep the name because I LOVE it.

I realized that my idea for a blog about domestic workers won't really work if I can't speak Spanish or any other language aside from English. There is an amazing website called domesticworkersunited.org that caters to domestic workers, and the fight to start a union. I am trying to get a job there for the summer.

I love cheap food. Don't be fooled by the recession though. Even when I was a nanny on the UES, and seriously making good dough, I still searched far and wide for the best cheap food I could find.

For starters I would like to recommend Cafe Los Arcos. 225 Bushwick Ave Btw Johnson and Montrose. It is fantastic and beyond affordable! It really beats the new trendy hotspot La Superior on Berry st in Williamsburg. It's hilarious that La Superior is considered cheap. You get extremely tiny tacos for about $3 each. That's insulting. At Los Arcos you can get a large, extra stuffed taco for $2. The quality and freshness surpasses anything from La Superior. Not that I hated La Superior, but the $3 tacos the size of silver dollar? PUUULEASE.

Next week: Ralph's!!

Free the nannies

I'm starting this blog to discuss the role of  domestic workers in New York City who work among the rich, priviledged, and famous. I was a full time nanny in NYC on the coveted Upper East Side for one year. It was a true "Nanny Diaries" experience.

First off I would like to say that writing is not a hobby or passion of mine. In fact, I despize it. I think this will be good  practice for my writing skills. Feed back and custructive critisism are welcome!

I shall return.
